INTRODUCTION

About Offset Art

In collaboration with other emerging artists, I (Nathan Stoneham) create performance and installation pieces under the name Offset Art. My projects explore a range of pressing issues from social justice to the environment and are usually placed in public spaces. I aim to engage communities in meditative, rejuvenating and joyful experiences that are often transdisciplinary, interactive and political. To compliment the social benefits of such community art, Offset Art also strives to generate donations for human rights organisations, especially those interested in gender equality and sexual rights across the Asia Pacific Region.

I have facilitated projects and presented work in Australia, Tonga and Korea and am interested in strengthening connections between Australia and our neighbours to enrich development efforts abroad, invest in the cultural health of Australia and nurture international friendships which all inevitably move us towards peace.

이제 막 떠오르고 있는 다른 예술가들과 함께하는 공동작업으로, 저는(네이슨 스톤햄) 오프셋 아트라는 이름아래 공연과 설치예술 창작 작업을 합니다.

제 프로젝트는 긴급한 이슈인 사회정의에서부터 환경문제까지 폭넓게 다루며, 주로 대중과 함께하는 장소에서 펼쳐집니다. 저는 대중이 명상에 잠길 수 있고 활기를 되찾을 수 있는 것을 목표로 주로 초학문적, 상호적,정치적인 성향을 띄는 즐거운 경험을 할 수 있도록 유도합니다. 커뮤니티 아트의 사회적인 이익이 높은 평가를 받기 위해서, 오프셋 아트는 또한 인권협회, 특히 동태평양 지역 전체를 아울러 성평등과 성적 자기결정권에 관심을 쏟고 있는 단체를 위한 기부에 힘을 다하고 있습니다.

저는 호주,통가(남태평양 중부에 있는 나라),한국에서 프로젝트 진행과 작업을 해왔으며, 호주와 호주를 더욱 풍요롭게 만들어줄 이웃 나라와의 관계 강화에 관심이 많습니다. 또, 호주의 문화적인 건강과 모든 것이 필연적으로 우리를 평화로 이끌 국제적 우정 육성에 투자하고 싶습니다.

IDENTITY

Logo Rationale

An orange helium balloon on the verge of flight is about to lift a stone. The balloon represents art and the stone represents activism. If art and activism strike a fine balance, activism attempts can be lifted with art, and art can be given purpose and direction by activism. Without each other, the balloon would be lost and the stone couldn’t move forward.

비행기 끝의 헬륨 풍선이 돌을 들어올린다.
풍선은 예술을, 돌은 예술 행동주의를 표현한다.
예술과 예술 행동주의가 멋진 균형을 이루면 예술 행동주의 시도는 예술과 함께 더 떠오를 수 있으며, 예술은 예술행동주의에 의해서 목적과 방향을 제시해 줄 수 있다. 서로가 없이는 풍선을 잃게 되고 돌은 앞으로 나아갈 수 없다.

Artist Bio

Nathan Stoneham

Nathan Stoneham is a young transdisciplinary artist and educator working across the areas of applied theatre, public installation, children’s theatre and sound design. Since graduating from Queensland University of Technology (Creative Industries / Education), Nathan has worked in a variety of roles across the Asia Pacific Region. In Korea, Nathan performed in and later directed a touring, interactive storytelling performance for children in Seoul and in rural towns. He has also presented original multimedia installations and performance art pieces in festivals and galleries across Korea. As an Australian Youth Ambassador for Development, Nathan spent a year in Tonga as a drama trainer and assisted a local drama group to educate communities about health and human rights through performance. Nathan uses art activism to contribute to community development through civic engagement and cultural exchange under his company, Offset Art and is committed to using the arts to strengthen friendships across borders.
